In late 2012, owner of the Ratnagiri Alphonso Orchard considered whether or not to purchase information from a climatology business regarding the likelihood of unseasonable rains that could damaged some or all of the mango harvest of his family.
The owner needed to determine whether or not he should let the orchard to a fruit merchant or keep the orchard for his family regardless of the possibility of rain in order to make a harvest. Would the climatology firm have provided advice that was helpful, or should he have made an independent choice? Irrespective of whether tips were purchased by him from the climatology company, what was the best educated decision he could have made?
