Going Flat: Pursuit of a Democratic Organizational Structure Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

A 2010 MBA grad researched her options for full time employment. She found the Ethical Business Company (EBC) and was immediately intrigued. Not only did the business consult on many of the ethical dilemmas which were important to her, but it also had a flat organizational structure.

Although it was a more dangerous choice than going with a much more established and bigger business, she was excited about being able to utilize her abilities in direct interaction with customers and senior executives, rather than having them concealed underneath the multiple layers of hierarchical structure. However subsequent to three weeks at EBC, she contemplated if a level structure is right for all companies and all employees or if there are certain businesses and people who fit in the hierarchy more better than others.
