Preserving the integrity of knowledge and information in R&D Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

This paper combines the research and development (R & D) and the literature on knowledge management to provide a new understanding of how best to manage the development of new innovative products and services. This process is still widely recognized as problematic and inefficient. The basis for the new product and service development process is that new knowledge must be developed, maintained, and used on the whole R & D commercialization spectrum. While a lot of knowledge is often created, much as lost as projects go through many different stages. The prevailing notion is that information technology systems will help reduce the loss of knowledge, but the current solutions do not meet, leaving a space or gap, in which knowledge is lost or transferred in a manner that dispels or redirects the original purpose. Through study of 146 firms, we identify five major areas of knowledge and loss of torque control capabilities to solve the problem. Finally, we propose a model to explain the content management for R & D as a new framework for decision. "Hide
