MRC’s House of Cards Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Media Rights Capital (MRC), an independent production company, receives a licensing offer from Netflix for a project where the company is going to launch a new television series called House of Cards. The Co-chairmen and C0-CEOs, Asif Satchu and Modi Wiczyk respectively, are examining the potential of this proposal. The series had been pitched by the company’s executives to the premium cable networks in the US, including HBO, Starz, FX, Showtime, and AMC. Netflix management had made it known they were ready to make a strong venture in real programming, to the surprise of the two entrepreneurs.

Satchu and Wiczyk accepted the offer from a traditional premium cable network, Netflix, but ultimately it causes various concerns, such as a question mark on MRC’s skills to secure international rights fees, to gain prominent position in the market, to achieve market backing, and to operate according to the desired way by ke constituents and artists. Would it better for MRC to build this partnership with Netflix?
