Transformational Gaming: Zynga’s Social Strategy (A) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In January 2009, Mark Pincus, founder and CEO of the hugely popular and successful Zynga Game Network met with his sister Laura Hartman, DePaul University business ethics professor, to discuss establishing a fresh brand of corporate social strategy. Pincus desired to find a method that Zynga could have a greater social effect on the world.

He and Hartman talked about creating a new social strategy that will naturally flow out of the success in developing highly rewarding interactional social games of Zynga. The two of them speculated whether it was achievable for one firm to produce a strategy that would both engender social change and be lucrative.
