Future Improvements

While considering the above two benefits, a medical practitioner can easily identify the changes which are necessary in developing strong procedure. Improvements are made in medical treatments as it enables a practitioner to identify information which is not present in the current system but needs improvements. Therefore, this benefit is important for the entire healthcare industry as it would provide the basis for medical inventions and a particular environment where treatment could be performed with ease.

Change Management at PHS

While considering the inefficiency of medical staff in learning the new system, the company developed a reward system which motivated its doctors to learn the new system of EMR through training or either they would be paid less compensation than doctors which adopted the new system. Although the new system had been difficult and complex, but the company had been providing training to its medical staff. A separate insurance services were provided by both the medical practitioners.

The offices fro each medical staff was developed in a way that it fulfilled the requirements of its doctors for their ease of use medical equipment and for the purpose of comfortable treatment of its patients. A project team was created which had been assigned with the task of identifying the early adopters of the system and to provide them training in order to use the new technology platform.

The project team also worked with the primary care physicians because these were the medical staff which have the first contact of patients. A patients first goes towards a primary care physician and then being escorted to a specialty physician. Therefore, the first impression and the collection of information from patients is necessary.

Transformational Healthcare Delivery

Scenario 1

In computing the medical records, the company decided to compile the history of the patients’ data according to their genome type which are also referred to as genetic characteristics. The patients that have a similar generic characteristics were computed together. This also includes the prescription of drugs which had been prescribed to a similar set of patients.

Therefore, the company performed a test to view the reactions between the two patients and compared amongst one another. The idea had been focused upon checking the effectiveness and inefficiency of prescribed drugs, and also to manage the risk of that particular drug. Furthermore, the drug is either replaced or considered the best alternative for treatment.

Scenario 2

After biomedical computing, the company decided to re-engineer the health care delivery which included the defining of the roles for various medical staff and professionals. This step also includes the entire data collection process from patients through electronic ways till the best recommendation is provided to the particular patient. Furthermore, the particular process allows a medical practitioner to understand the various processes of data collection and to use the particular data upon providing the best recommendation through the use of technology.

Furthermore, the use of technology in the particular step would remind patients about having medicines at different intervals so that there shall be no gaps in consuming the prescribed medicines. There are two kinds of data which are generated in the IT software, the one is generated by the doctors or medical staff, the other data is generated through patients. The information which is generated through patients have arrived all the way from patients’ home.

Scenario 3

In the particular scenario, the company conducts the assessment of other technologies which might be implemented in future. The company identifies the potential benefits and cost for the desired technology and the learning which has been developed regarding that particular technology.

Furthermore, the cost and benefit factor is important for the new IT programs and equipment which would need to be installed in the hospital. Since the company believes in managing the hospital in an efficient manner while reducing the death and error rates, therefore this stance has been considered as vital for the growth and prosperity of the organization.

Moreover, The Center for Informational Technology Leadership (CITL) has been created by the company in understanding the new opportunities for the hospital in embedding IT infrastructure. The company aimed to launch ‘telehealth’ and personal data health records in order to make efficient operations system at PHS.

Scenario 4

The aim of Clinical Informatics Research and Development (CIRD) has been focused upon increasing the quality care for patients at PHS, while maintaining the efficiency of the entire operations. The company identified that this aim could be accomplished through providing the clinical information about a patient and to help making advice for patient’s safety and quality of care.

Conclusion

The increase in the death rates of patients in the United States has allowed growing concerns for the safety of patients through implementing EMR to maintain medical records of its patients. PHS has introduced the particular system in developing a strong collaboration with its patients and the medical staff. The case provides a detailed change process that has been undertaken by PHS in order to deliver quality care services and best recommendations to prevent death rates.

In scenario one, the company decided to compute the records of patients and their history of treatment. The company compiled through the patients’ genetic characteristics when they were diagnose with the similar disease or illness. This allowed the company to measure the strengths and weaknesses of the prescribed drugs so that it could make replacements with the particular drug. Furthermore, scenario second describes about the entire patient process time for collecting information along with the best recommendations.

The third scenario provides opportunities for new ways in embedding IT strategies in order to make the process efficient. The fourth scenario discusses about developing the quality care of the patient and to increase technological efficiencies..............................
