Mega-Church Takes on Urban Problems: Fellowship Bible Comes to South Midtown Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Twenty-five years after its founding in the homes of members, non-denominational, Evangelical Fellowship Bible Church, of Little Rock, Arkansas became a "mega-church", hold religious services on a 25-acre site in one of the best places in the booming West Little Rock and bring the combined 5000 parishioners on any Sunday. But, as a collection of scholarship has grown, its management has said that the Christian life should go beyond individual salvation and responsibilities of family, friendship, and individual acts of charity, and that church members should strive to be "socially responsible." In an effort to become a "church irresistible influence," Fellowship Bible took the lead in organizing the massive citywide day of volunteer projects. Additionally, ministries, which originated in a small group of church members, such as sexual abstinence education program held in dozens of public and private schools, took independent life, as we know facing organizations. These efforts are made possible, in particular, contributions to charity scholarships of over 25 percent ($ 3 million-plus) of its annual expenditure. This case tells the story of the next stage in the church efforts to improve the social ills in Little Rock "external service", known as "one church, one school, one neighborhood", announced in August 2004. Scholarship hopes that his help would be clearly and significantly improve the lives of one of the most disadvantaged areas of the city, the 130-block area in the heart of Little Rock. The project will include intensive mentoring students of one school in Little Rock is a predominantly black Midtown South area (scholarship itself was almost entirely white collection), efforts to work with the African-American church encourage marriages prevail in single-parent families, and the initiative to create new housing in the area.
