Jumpstarting the Use of Social Technologies in Your Organization Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

How do you get your organization to begin using social technologies to eventually become more advanced and productive? Where and with whom should you start? We found that the most successful businesses apply one of three jumpstart strategies, with respect to the business’s mission, culture, work processes, and business and interviewed over 70 supervisors across 30 businesses. Some start in the base of the business, finding and empowering 'youthful experimenters' to use social technologies to enhance their individual productivity.

Others commence in the mid, locating and aiding 'corporate entrepreneurs' in middle management to work with social technologies to improve cooperation on jobs and teams. Others begin in the apex, locating 'educated executives' who are open to the potential of societal tools as well as new technology to advocate their organizational culture. We unite notions from technology adoption, change management, and social networks and our research to suggest means managers can best introduce societal collaboration tools within their organizations.
