This article focuses on the shortcomings of the present "rules of thumb" for intellectual asset valuation in the context of intellectual property licensing transactions.As a substitute to the current scheme, the quantitative methods are proposed by this note for such valuations in order to educate the parties negotiating the components of an IP trade.
