International Strategies of Mid-Sized Firms: A Comparison of Indiana and Guangdong Province Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

A China strategy is becoming more important for an escalating diversity of midsized firms as they find China's increasingly greater impact on the U.S. economy. Our study surveyed Guangdong and Indiana businesses to assess their interest in future international participation in the other's nation.

Our results support present involvement by mid-sized companies from both countries in certain actions with the other country, however there is a strong interest in doing more. Therefore, there are opportunities for many Indiana organizations to play a role in developing knowledge of China, company development, and international expertise in assisting Indiana businesses. In the study, 97 firms from 105 Indiana companies and the Guangdong Province identified their present international actions as their future goals relative to business development in the country of the other.
