This case focuses on the possibility and challenges of entering an emerging marketplace. It provides a brief overview of the Ethiopian marketplace, market reforms and policies, and also the business environment faced by foreign companies. Three multinational companies, ShoeCo, CareCo, and MedCo must choose how and whether to enter the Ethiopian market. Students are requested to produce a recommendation for each firm based on the attractiveness of the marketplace, the factors that matter most for success, and an appraisal of what applies to the firms.
