It is predicted by an entrepreneur in Atlantic Canada that he has a five to six year window to capitalize on the growth of a passenger transportation, Maritime Bus, his newest endeavor and parcel delivery service, before his retirement. Having turned around a business that lost $12 million over the prior eight years in less than six months, he believes he has the chance to continue this success.
He is uncertain what strategies to follow to achieve growth: expand the parcel service, associate with other transportation operator’s move into Newfoundland and Labrador, raise advertising attempts or to attract more passengers. He is also unsure about how he can smoothly and profitably transfer his ownership shares to an external investor, one or more of his children or his partner and the value of the company. Any decision has to be done in consultation with his family.
