CASE ANALYSIS

QUESTION 1

Elements of Sasken quality management System
Bricks (Teamwork, Training & Leadership)

Sasken project team comprises of Linux expertise. The expert team worked at the codec algorithm to meet the vendor’s requirement because Sasken received an order from Japanese handset vendor. The client wanted to develop a codec that suits to certain chipset. Expectation from the vendor to customize the product according to the feature, specification and quality as well as providing the comprehensive post deployment support helped the Sasken to build their image in the market. Sasken originated the Remote codec interface (RCI). Several years have passed in completing the dedicated project. The team was efficient and effective in term of quality and the timeliness of the delivery.

Binding Mortar

The clients required many other projects which include Media player software that supports video and audio format and it should be ported to mobile handset to provide transformation of audio and video through personal computers. Sasken again faced difficult task for delivering the fully functional media player along with the controller and protocol stack.

The system was designed for Sasken based on the expert team they hired because the vendors, consumer and manufacturers have become quality conscious and technological innovation and that has become the primarily reason behind the growth of mobile services and multimedia in Japan. Sasken had another challenge to fix the bug error by providing the detail root analysis report which was caused by bugs discovered. It requires the methodology for resolving the reported bugs. See appendix1.

Comparison and Contrast

Working around the globe and examining different culture and engaging in software development was not an easy task. Sasken has number of clients in the U.S and European countries thus;it has to adopt its style and the project management.
1. US and European based client work on the extensive written agreement based on precise documentation while Sasken Japanese client prefer the continuously negotiated agreement.

2. The U.S and European client signed the contract before the project started and in contrast the Japanese clients’ contract started after the work start but before the product release.

Due to the cultural difference and corporate governance, the business code and ethics change with respect to region therefore, the way of doing the business in the West has a lot difference of doing a business as compared to the eastern part of the world however, Sasken had made a lot decisions that were not capable to satisfy the current requirement of the new customer which helped it to build Sasken as its subsidiary. Its target market, distribute, supply chain are connected with westernization. In this competitive environment Sasken had to take the decision of moving headquarter to Japan to setup and bring the new employees who have the required qualification and experience of that potential market so that the experts from Bangalore and Japan work as a team at one platform. This may reduce the barriers which Sasken was facing before.......................
