The Container Store Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The Container Store (TCS) is a Texas-based retailer of organization and storage alternatives. The company prides itself in looking after its workers first and its co founder and CEO Kip Tindell practices Conscious Capitalism. The number of TCS outlets expanded to approximately 70 and in over 20 states by 2013; since its beginnings in 1978.

Tindell believed TCS's worker - the seven Foundation Principles and first culture, which guided the company, were what differentiated the company from other retailers. TCS went public in late 2013 with plans to grow to 300 shops. Afterwards its IPO, the sales of its outlets got affected and the stock in early 2016 of the company's was trading well below its IPO price. As such, the business's culture and Foundation Principles were being put to the test.
