Super-Flexibility for Real-Time Adaptation: Perspectives from Silicon Valley Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Realtime adaptation is critical in today's unpredictable world. This article suggests that leaders must develop the capacity for real time adaptation because it's not possible to anticipate and plan for every eventuality. Super-flexibility is one way to attain real time adaptation.

The term is an umbrella concept that encompasses agility and versatility, as well as resilience and robustness. Like a camel living like a chameleon changing its color, while transforming, in desert conditions, it is a dialectical capability of defying turbulence, in a practical sense. On the basis of the 2nd edition of the publication Super-Flexibility for Knowledge Enterprises (Springer, 2010) and distilling the authors' experience in Silicon Valley, this article describes the conceptual foundations of super-flexibility, and presents five activity principles for becoming super-adaptable.
