Learning to Lead in China: Michael Faye Goes to China Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

This case is presented in an interesting format cartoon describing the first two weeks after Michael Fay (disguised), foreign executive, is president of the current operations of China's leading western multinational corporations. Zimbabwean by birth, with significant Asian experience, Michael had little first-hand experience in the China market as such. Its mission is to rapidly climb the steep learning curve to find the easiest and shortest way to fulfill its dual purpose permutation operations in China and China's positioning in the thinking of a multinational corporation. In the accompanying video, featuring interviews with Michael, gives participants an understanding of how he sees his role as well as its training and networking perspective. This case can be used in conjunction with the case entitled "Antonio Scarsi Takes Command" (IMD324). Together, these two cases on the theme "Exploring leading in China," and to encourage participants to consider a variety of learning styles and similarities by two foreign managers facing strong managerial tasks in the development of its Chinese business.
