In Eastern Europe, following the fall of the Soviet empire, a wave of English-language paper issued in the 1990s. One of the most significant was the Kyiv Post, which by the end of the decade had established a reputation as the top sovereign news resource in Ukraine.
From Shoestring openings, by the year 2006 it had developed into a $US 55 million enterprise. Besides, the newspaper’s independence along with survival was astonishingly tested in the aftermath of the global monetary catastrophe.
