Introduction and Key Facts

            Ilona Chan belongs to a middle-class family in Hong Kong, during her early years of education, she focused a lot to improve the standard of English via learning.After completing her MBA, Ilona started creating relationships for the sake of organization. Ilona’s first professional experience was in Regent’s Washington, D.C as a special assistant. At the beginning of the 1990’s Ilona begun her new career at Di Guo Entertainment Limited (DG-E) as a general manager. Di Guo Entertainment was the subsidiary of the Di Guo Property Limited (DG-PD) originated in 1992 by Chan Zhang Wu. Chan registered the firm in Hong Kong and hired Dawai to make him responsible for the company’s corporate development activities.

At the initial stage, Di Guo Property Limited involved exclusively in the construction of “Di Guo City”, a project measuring 120,000 square meters. Later on, the corporation expanded its business activities by foundingseparate firms in property management, i.e. Di Guo Property Management and Di Guo Interiors Limited.When Ilona Chan joined the Di Guo Entertainment, there were just 130 permanent employeesexecuting several administrative, marketing, financial and support duties for the entire Di Guo Companies in just one office.

Problem Statement

The general manager of a real estate division required to took various actions in order to determine and identify the areas needed in the change process. Ilona at her early days of the new jobs identified there are few changes needed by the organization on the urgent basis to increase the performance standards. Although, she knew that these changes may be a tough challenge for the organization to adopt due to various factors. Her approach was to give employees confidence and building positive relationships with them to achieve the desired objective.

Organization Behavior Issues

When an organizationis eager to expand its business, it brings more opportunitiesto the workplace. Some organizations and their executives characteristically face one or more of three possible levels of conflict, employee and organizational issues.Usually,these problems cause various problems like communication failure, lack of coordination and organization structure. Di Group faced the problem of how to manage the teams in the workplace? At the group, the team lacked the problem of achieving the goals and objectives for the sake of the organization. There were some conflicts among the management as well as team members that needed to be resolved.

These issues, mostly affect the organization in a negative manner in the form of mismanagement and conflicts. Team leaders also need to think fromthe employee’s perspectives which was missing in the Di Guo Group. Managers and leaders need to resolve these conflicts and issues and take immediate actions as required to cope up with these problems. To overcome these problems and conflicts, Di Guo needs to identify and address these issues to ensure a better working environment in the company.Though it is very easy to identify these issues, but the more challenging task is to overcome these problems in a significant way to keep high performing staff.

Analysis

The long term goals to ensure the development of the Entertainment City (EC)schemewas to provide government officials and business leaders a facility with an environment that was similar to the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The short-term objective of EC was to offer DG-PD with a favorable environment for humanizing friendly relationships with various government officials and bankers. These relationships would then be utilized for the purpose of project financing and other approvals for all the Di Guo Group activities. The DI Guo Group has to identify the issues and features concerning the organizational behavior. Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in an organization andthe interface between the organization and human behavior. The company faced several challenges within the organization.

Ilona Chan needs to understand the Chinese culture to promote the employees as well as encourage them to understand the organizational behavior. She would suggest that it is a challenge for her to tackle the issues and conflict that arise within the organization.Ilona Chan was very concerned about the employees working in the EC site office because they were not following the culture of the organization. They were not responding to the company’s policies and procedures as per the company’s vision and mission.Ilona Chan identified that a human behavior is a vital component for organizational performance and productivity. She also recognized that human behavior is essential for organizational success, and both the managers and leaders are likely to understand the significance of learning the organizational behavior.

At the Di Guo Group, organizational behavior, members, commitment and motivation are key factors to building a favorable working environment.
