HSBC – The Bital Acquisition Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The bank in question, HSBC, is one of the largest as well as highly renowned all of the world. The company is aiming to buy one of Mexico’s biggest bank, as a potential acquisition target. Dialogues have come down to the wire, and the commanding Mexican shareholders are trying to get its offer to be raised by HSBC. Is it worth it? HSBC must determine on both tactical and short term fiscal criteria under some level of uncertainty as illuminated by a due diligence process.

The HSBC executive who has managed a purchase domestically,  may become the head of the bank’s operation in Mexico once the acquisition is completed. The evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages in this  purchase along with the set up of priorities that are set by him and his team, need to be confronted, including problems related to change of cultures in workplace, rebranding Bital as HSBC Mexico, staff problems and maintaining the continuity of the business.
