Global Strategy Requires a Meeting of Minds Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The growing visibility of Asian markets on the world stage has done more than shake up the old economic order. In our novel, Asian Versus Western Direction Thinking: Its Culture-Bound Nature, we review various research perspectives, from cross-cultural direction to cognitive psychology.

We carried out case studies on Asian and Western managers, and ran a further study of Asians and Westerners into the manner in which they make company decisions. We find two very different approaches to acting and thinking, based on foundations of reason and culture, different doctrines. We term these different techniques of thinking "inductive" and "deductive," and argue that both of these approaches, when understood, can be utilized to broaden and deepen a supervisor's toolbox, allowing greater strategic skill.
