An energy based company, AltaGas Ltd. (AltaGas),in Calgary, Alberta, successfully collaborated with the Canadian federal government, British Columbia's provincial government, and a First Nations group in order to reach a common ground for creating a large, green energy, hydroelectric project in a remote place in northern British Columbia.
Although most observers considered the arrangement to be a resounding success, however the founder and chief executive officer of AltaGas were concerned that the most challenging task was about to arrive. By being of the belief that success could be measured just in terms of societal value, he wondered how the project could endure positive community impact for the whole 60-year duration of the commercial deal.
