By 2006, Wikipedia has achieved such success that only a handful of young organizations can only dream of achieving. It has grown from virtually zero in 2001 to become one of the consistently high ratings and the most visited sites on the Internet. This success has brought new problems to the extent that no organization of this kind never experienced before. Provides students with a brief history of Wikipedia, the reasons for its success, and the issues it faces in the future. Two themes form the center of attention: the first concerns the rules and standards for reporting and editing, which raise questions about the ambiguity of the power of Wikipedia and virtual cycle that keeps the site going, and the second is the need to make changes in their practices, as gains in popularity, raising questions that any wiki, profit-oriented and open source have to do to scale to a large number of participants and papers.
