With a modification in management in 2005 came the statement of several new strategic initiatives and a radical reorganization. Among the initiatives was the establishment of the Vestas Technology research and development (R&D) business unit with an objective of achieving global leadership in all core technology areas and, consequently, fortifying the core competence for the firm.
By year 2008, Vestas had succeeded in establishing a global R&D network with R&D centres in Denmark, the United States, Singapore and India, Kingdom, in early 2009, a centre was started in the United States. Vestas was transformed by this into a high-tech company and put a greater emphasis on its technological innovations.
