ThedaCare: System Strategy Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

ThedaCare: System Strategy Case Solution

Background:

As stated above, along with the strong competition from Aurora Hospitals, the organization is facing a low employee morale for its most important and largest employee cluster. The root causes identified for this behavior include;

  • The feeling of burden with attending weekly trainings along with the work load without any additional benefit in form of salary increment, bonuses, holidays etc.
  • No direct and prominent benefit for physicians for improved services in form of salary increment, bonuses, holidays etc.
  • The rapid innovations which have made it difficult for the Physicians to make balance between work and these extra activities leading to their resistant to change. (See Appendix-A)

Strategic Analysis:

Using SWOT and TWOS analysis, given in Appendix B, Toussaint can manage to improve its service quality, boost its employees’ morale and cope with the competitive threats. However, there are still various questions raised by the joint SWOT and TWOS analysis which are given below;

  • How to expand the business and the vision for quality services?
  • How to ensure rapid innovations along with high employee morale?
  • How to compete in terms of reimbursement rates with Aurora in the region?
  • How to become the highest quality health care service provider in the region?

Note: See Appendix B for detailed SWOT and TWOS Analysis

Implementation Plan:

As stated above, the most important problem to look at first is boosting employee morale using three different recommended methods; lowering burden, introducing benefit plans and implementing boiling frog strategy for innovations. A detailed implementation plan for all these recommended actions is given in Appendix C including priorities, timeline and resources. In this way, the organization will be able to achieve its goal of highest health care service provider in the region.
