Intrapreneurship at Alcatel-Lucent Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Since 2006, Alcatel Lucent, an international telecommunications equipment manufacturer located in Paris, France, has been running boot camps for its employees to provide business training and help them monetize their creative ideas with a view to creating value for the company. The program has led to 32 projects out of which two were commercialized, three transferred to business units within Alcatel Lucent and one spun off.

Due to a price reduction program directed at making the business cash flow positive, but, the boot camps were discontinued in the year 2012. Now in the month of June 2014, after an alteration in top level managementalong with an urge to recover the revolutionary advantage against its competition has restored the idea, the business 's director of Open Innovation &Intrapreneurship is facing three dilemmas: the way to accommodate the big business intolerance for failure with failure-prone intrapreneurship, the way to design a forward-looking component into intrapreneurship and the best way to change the layout and architecture of the boot camp in its new edition.
