InnoCentive.com (B) Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

InnoCentive.com enables clients to tap into internal and external solver networks to handle various business predicaments. In the year 2008, InnoCentive introduced "InnoCentive@Work" (lC@W), which understood clients' disinclination to share issues and solutions with an outside network. Instead, IC @W enable clients to cultivate open collaboration amongst its own employees. IC@W became the fastest growing product in the portfolio of InnoCentive.

In 2010, InnoCentive added "team project rooms" which enabled little groups of solvers from InnoCentive's community to openly add posts and conversation threads after consenting to the confidentiality and IP transfer demands of the customer. The case raises the questions of the means by which the team room notion could be improved and how customers might be convinced of its benefits.
