Hilmann Reinier: Coke’s Coffee Challenge in China Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Jim Coke had involved himself in trade of several commodities. However he was not competent in any of them. Coke was very ambitious, and knew he was on the inception of something big. A Hong Kong resident since 2010, he desired to control the coffee distribution market in mainland China and Hong Kong. In a short span of time of one year he achieved something extraordinary: the permission of coffee distribution in huge supermarket chain in Hong Kong, China.

More to the point, the Hong Kong was now Jamaica Blue Mountain (registered company) coffee's official licensee in 67 nations, including China and Hong Kong. Jim Coke must decide whether it was the time to obtain distribution rights for food items or he must expand his operation in China with a huge population.
