Google Inc. Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

The case outlines the growth of Google: since its start at Stanford, to its realized landmarks (becoming lucrative, becoming an IPO) and eventually to its success attracting rivalry and inciting government regulation. This, along with technology change, are the current challenges its CEO Larry Page must now face.

With Android, Google developed an ecosystem of services to entice users and has successfully transferred from search functionality on personal computers to hunt functionality on mobile devices. Yet, Google continues to depend greatly on promotion (which makes up 90 percent of its sales). Further, as R&D investments are growing at competing businesses, R&D productivity is simultaneously decreasing at Google. The shifting sands of regulation and competition can't be ignored, and Google faces the prospect of desiring corporate strategy in addition, for both business to better guide their actions.
