Envision Charlotte: Building an Energy Cluster Case Solution
October 28, 2011, 1,500 people, including many civilians, and business leaders gathered in the open air in Charlotte, North Carolina area of the city to celebrate the launch of Imagine: Charlotte, the first in the nation's smart grid plan to reduce energy use central business district. The initiative calls for a 20% reduction in energy consumption in the city while promoting the growing energy sector in the region by attracting green-minded companies urban core and position Charlotte as a very progressive business center. The idea was to make Charlotte "new energy hub of America" and diversify its historical reliance on the banking - historically volatile industry. General Director of Duke Energy Jim Rogers and other leaders attended the hope that rallying around common ideas and support civic initiatives such as Envision a formula for economic sustainability.
