Controversy evolved over the actions of Adria Richards, a programmer-evangelist, In year 2013, in correspondence with the comments she overheard being made by two male attendees in a technology seminar. Subsequently she reported what she confirmed to be sexist comments by posting a photograph of the men along with a comment on Twitter, the two guys were requested to depart the conference proceedings and one of them was immediately fired.
A firestorm was ensuing meanwhile Richards actions were subjected to the scrutiny and also the larger question of whether women's involvement was obstructed by sexism in the technology business received a lot of attention.
