Assembling Smartphones: Takt Time ≠ Cycle Time?, Spanish Version Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Colour cases should be printed in colour, to maximize their effectiveness. The case was prepared to be used as part of a process review in the first year Technology and Operations Management course at HBS. It offers pupils an opportunity to discuss the circumstance of a manufacturing procedure choice, and then analyze actual production numbers that resulted from a chain of selections.

The case simply meant for one discussion pasture to evaluate the Hayes-Wheelwright product-process matrix, and the impact of variability on line operation. While comparative amounts for the process choices are supplied, the hope would be to develop pupils' instinct around why the amounts change so much.
