An analysis of managerial factors affecting the Implementation and use of overall equipment Effectiveness Case Solution

Apart from this, the paper also discuss the importance of the management role in training and adapting the new model in the organization. According to the past research, the management support and training allows the employees to adapt the changes more easily than bringing the change in isolation.

Moreover, it is the role of the management to maintain the enthusiasm of the OEE in all levels of the organization. Since it has been found that the poor management leads to the enthusiasm fadedness when it reaches to the operational level. Hence the effective and active role of management is required to support the OEE functions in the organization.

The article also suggests to change the role of the employees. It is Important for the organization to improve and reset the roles of the employees towards the OEE’s role. It is due to the fact that the existing roles of employees creates a conflict in the new roles of OEE demand for the proper implementation which may create confusion within the organization among the staff.

Perhaps, it has also been found that such changes in roles creates the resistance in the organization leading to poor performance, employee flights, poor adaption and increased cost on training. Hence it is suggested that the organization should develop the OEE strategy in the teams by including the employee and engaging them in the process of OEE implementation. Such will allow them to embrace the change easily which leads to effective implementation of OEE in the organization.

Hypothesis and Methodology

The paper also details the hypothesis stating the relation between the management supports and the operator’s efficiency in the effective implementation of OEE in the organization. In addition four research questions have also been developed:

  1. RQ1: What are the most common roles expected by the management to be involved in during the implementation phase of OEE?
  2. RQ2: What should be considered as a part of training to prepare operators prior to the implementation of OEE?
  3. RQ3: What are the main challenges that organizations face during the implementation of OEE?
  4. How do organizations use the information gathered from OEE?

The hypothesis formed are given below:

  1. Organizations that have implemented both lean manufacturing and TPM are more likely to use OEE as a mean of measuring its production performance than organizations that have not adapted both lean manufacturing and TPM
  2. Management support to the operators adopting the change and awareness training are equally important to ensure the successful implementation of OEE for an organization.
  3. Understanding of the elements in OEE is vital to ease the selection of areas for improvement.
  4. Manufacturing organizations tend to identify improvement opportunities by referring to OEE than other techniques.

Lastly it has been found that hypothesis formed has been accepted with the significant level of above 5 percent depicting the acceptance of null hypothesis. The author also concludes that there is a significant impact of management role in the effective implementation of the OEE in the organization along with the fact that they need to be actively involved in the implementation process of the OEE which will harness accurate and fruitful results in the long-term.............
