The Relationship between Motivation and Performance Case Solution

This perspective illustrates the importance of researching motivation and its relationship to performance. The main obstacle which is discussed in this study regarding the personality development, which is enhanced by the leadership styles and traits of an individual and how an individual is demotivated through the lack of leader support. However, every leader possesses different styles, which directly impacts the individual, creating his/her personality.

 Literature Review

The study encompasses the leadership support and quality to an individual’s personality. However leader is the main person behind the modification and motivation of an employee. (Nanjundeswaraswamy, 2014). There are different leadership types, which are applied in an organization that directly impact the employee’s persona.

Transformational Leadership

The transformational leadership refers to leading by example. The focus of transformational leader is to increase the employees’ motivation, engagement and commitment towards achieving the organizational values, goals and objectives.

Traditional Leadership

Traditional leadership refers to a process whereby the leader leads the organization based on past traditions. The objective of the leader is to maintain consistency and bring the same financial performance over years, i.e. they aim to bring sustainable and reliable results for the customers as well as the shareholders.

 Transitional Leadership

Transitional leadership refers to the leadership type, whereby the objective is to tackle a corporate challenge by an executive or board member, specifically brought in the organization with a defined purpose and direction. The major transformations include initiating and acquisition, starting a new division, sales’ turnarounds and the company’s restructuring.

 Situational Leadership

It refers to an adaptive leadership style, whereby the leaders take different variables at workplace, into consideration and choose the leadership style which best fits the situation and the organizational goals. According to Ken Blanchard, leaders can’t dictate employees as a boss and based on their positional power in the organization.

To study the literature in order to have a better understanding of the connection between employee morale and success (such as low absenteeism and low staff turnover), as well as how improved employee empowerment can boost employee motivation (including the comparison with the relevant motivating factors).

Employee motivation is the ability of a leader to retain its talented people for a long time period. It is necessary for an organization to retain its employees because there is an excessive cost which could be incurred during recruitment and the organization might lose its polished employees. A study was conducted in India which was based on employee’s retention in the pharmaceuticals Sector in Dehradun city,where they selected respondents randomly from pharmaceutical companies. The main reason they found through  this study was that 60% of employees did not have any issue with their jobs as they had full job security with an inclusion of being satisfied with their working hours. But others were not satisfied because of less motivation and leadership support. (Shahzadi, 2014)

Admittedly through research, it has been examined that 85% of all problems in an organization are associated with leader’s support.The major factor of employee’s motivation in an organization is that an employee remain always motivated if he is treated well and is supported as well as appreciated by the organization. (Dapu, 2015)

Leadership is a significant factor for an employee’s personality in an organization. A research was conducted in Malaysia, in which 250 faculty members were selected for a survey. Aforementioned study explores the effect of training and development and leadership practices over the employee’s retention. In this study, superior support and personality have positive relationship; therefore the upper management needs to provide appropriate support to their employees.

Leadership role is the main factor for which employee grooms his personality. A study was conducted in Malaysia on the impact of leadership activities practices over the employee’s personality through questionnaire, which was distributed among 30 employees and was analyzed through SPSS. According to this study, leadership is the only way to enablean employee to enhance and modify his/her personality and move towards productivity. (Buil, 2019)............................
