The Cellphone Industry from the Origins to Deregulation, Industry Note Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

This case series was created to illustrate the specificities of rivalry in poor and developing economies and, more specifically, competition at the Base of the Pyramid. It really is composed of a state note: two business cases, four documents, and a business note. Each company case starts with a brief history of the business, followed by a description of the global strategy of the company and of its entry into Cameroon.

Eventually, the case describes the company's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, in Cameroon and globally. The case series also contains two background notes. The first note describes the essential technical features of the cell phone business and the evolution. The second note provides an introduction to the geography, history, and economy of Cameroon, with a specific focus on the socio economic conditions of the citizenry of the state. Taken mutually, this case series allow a discussion of rivalry at the Base of the Pyramid, including both company and ethical aspects.
