Softbanks New Strategy: The Largest LBO in Japan Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

March 17, 2006, the Japanese Internet company Softbank Corp announced that it has reached a definitive agreement with a British mobile phone giant Vodafone Group Plc to buy its Japanese unit of Vodafone KK for 1.75 trillion. To finance the purchase of large business ever Japanese company, Softbank, to raise between 1.1 trillion and 1.2 trillion in leveraged buyout, ("LBO") financing, the use of Vodafone KK assets as collateral.
