RBC: Mobile Wallet Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In October 2012, a senior member at the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)’s management, which is also Canada's leading bank, faced issues at his workplace with regard to the start of a mobile wallet. The bank had developed a cloud-based application which differed it from industry standard SIM card-based payment procedures.

The EVP was assessing areas of contrast between the two models as part of arriving at a determination. There was chance that the cloud remedy was not untroubled. But would it become the dominant alternative?
