Pension Plan of Bethlehem Steel–2001 Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Pension Plan of Bethlehem Steel--2001 Case Solution

Prior to her dad’s retirement at the back of the tragic 9/11 attacks and the steel company filing for bankruptcy, an employee’s daughter in the company was prompted to look at her father’s pension plan. Battered equity marketplaces and plummeting interest rates foretell a "pension crisis," while the daughter finds the history and government function in U.S. private defined-benefit pension plans. She attempts to use her recently acquired finance abilities as an MBA student to estimate the pension plan's accurate asset-liability state and to guide her dad about his forthcoming retirement from a historically dominant U.S. business that's lost its competitiveness to international companies.
