Pending legislation that could affect your state’s current data breach posture

There are a number of legislations that have been developed for the New Hampshire state which affect the current data breach posture of the state. For instance, a new law has been made under which, sections have been added to the right to privacy statute by the House Bill 1660. Any of the people doing business in New Hampshire are required to notify all those individuals that are affected by the security breach of unencrypted computerized data of those individuals, which contains their personal information(Hollinger, 2018).

If any of the businesses is not able to inform the affected individuals that their information has been misused, then a notice would be provided to them and a delay is only allowed if the organization can ensure that the notice would impede the a threat to the national security of the state. If the total number of the individuals affected is more than 1000 or the total cost of issuing the notifications is more than $5,000 then a substitute notice should be issued in the form of publication in the New Hampshire state media. Furthermore, according to RSA 359-C, all the businesses that handle personal information of their customers or any other group of stakeholders, are required to increase their standards of care(Hollinger, 2018)................
