Examines the development of the PC hardware business over the period of two and a half decades. On the hardware side two component sections, the microprocessor and the graphics processor unit (GPU), finally became the most costly parts of the sequence.

Intel had mastered the microprocessor section, but Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was consistently a thorn in Intel's side. The prospects of the images function becoming incorporated with the microprocessor on just one piece of silicon. AMD had just declared the acquisition of ATI and Intel's CEO, Paul Otellini, is faced with the question of what he should do. Should he purchase Nvidia, should he continue with his own internal graphics attempts, or should he pay attention to some of his clientele and leave things divided?
