Focus of HTC:

Considering the success journey of the HTC,HTC VIVE has been successful in becoming the leading VR platform. Based on the fact that HTC upheld the best hardware makers throughout world. By 2025, the projected growth of the VR hardware was estimated to be approximately $10 billion whereas $120 billion for the AR – augmented reality hardware. Despite such projected growth, VR represented about 98 percent of the entire market share in comparison to 2 percent of AR headsets. However, the developmental efforts of HTC were mainly focused on hardware accessories and peripherals; but the relationship of VR’s hardware and software were of equal importance.

Additionally, the quality of VR content with quality hardware availability of great importance. By the year 2017, the content creation demonstrated significant outcomes with approximately 30,000 active developers working on the VIVE content for the website. Similarly, the VR content development was both internal and external across 10 different categories with approximately 2500 content pieces and 30 different titles across both VIVEport and Steam. The first shipment of VIVE demonstrated the availability of about 55 content pieces. But, HTC lacked direct funding investment for VIVE-only contentlike Oculus-only content.

No such investments have been made on the software development. Despite the great focus on the development of hardware, there were a number of limitations represented by respondents’i.e. slow adoption influenced by illumination, contrast, display resolution, and frame rate. Additionally, about 43 percent of the internet users had represented price as the key barrier in increased purchase of VR headsets. Some other concerns associated with the concept mainly include overheated device which is mainly a hardware issue, short-battery life limiting its efficient performance.

Considering the popularity and extensive incorporation of HTC product, it is recommended to the management and the team of HTC to first focus on the hardware functions of the device in order to extend the battery life, resolve the overheated device issues and lower the product cost. Secondly, as the hardware and software altogether work as teeth and lips; investment is required to be made on software improvement in terms of making it more efficient as its function is primarily based on maintenance and controlling the business operations. On the other hand, the content development has been going well with respect to the service. As it has extensive user base and pieces of contents shipped which are expected to increase with time through increase in the user base and awareness about the use and incorporation of the VR platforms.............................
