Helicopter Parents Hovering in the Workplace: What Should HR Managers do? Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Applying life course theory, this article offers a synopsis of what's understood about helicopter parenting behaviour in the workplace and why it exists. Herein, we discuss the pervasiveness of this dilemma and present a typology of the different levels of strength or obtrusiveness of parental engagement ('reconnaissance,' 'low elevation,' and 'guerilla war') in the office, also as ways where the adult child may respond to such behaviours. We conclude with a discussion of how employers are responding to this problem with proposed strategies for how to best manage such situations.
