Friendly Skies: Welfare-to-Work at United Airlines: Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

In 1997, the United General Manager Gerald Greenwald has been appointed chairman of the national wealth to the Partnership and President Clinton committed the United employment on the welfare rolls. Welfare-to-work programs have been set up quickly and was soon followed by a mentoring program. These programs have been successful - the United surpassed their welfare to work hiring goals and achieve a higher level of retention. With decreasing supply of able-bodied welfare recipients, however, the question is whether the United Greenwald and could continue to provide corporate leadership in the welfare to work arena.
