Essay Paper: Sex and the Single Girl Case Study Help

A 1962 non-fiction book – Sex and the Single Girl was written as an advice book by an American writer “Henry Gurley Brown”. The concept of the book was primarily based on providing advice and encouraging women to experience sexual relations and be financially independent. This book was dedicated to her husband; the producer of the motion picture – David Brown. The first sixty pages of the book are regarding sex i.e. it is considered good to enjoy the company of a man and how to be sexy. She categorized men in her life in seven categories to analyze the choices of her life. (DOLL, 2012)The opinions of Helen Gurley Brown tend to be grandiose, particularly about the married men not to be out of bounds.

Considering the fact “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are createdequal” (Brookshire, 2019) Brown had discussed the right of a female role in society regarding the achievement of gender equality and the ways to have it all. (Brown, (1964))The traditional myth relying uponthe duties restricted totheir roles as housewifves, and  mothers. Rather, she requires something more than her husband, child, and home in contrast to the most of the American women. (Friedan, 1963)In the 1960s, the work environment, and gender relations conveyed the message to the women to seek the advances in the professional environment and to tie the sexual opportunities and freedom for women directly to their workplace, referring it to as white-collar office.
