Endeavor: Miami Heats Up Harvard Case Solution & Analysis

Endeavor Global was a non-profit that for 15 years had worked to nurture entrepreneurship in emerging markets by choosing local high-impact entrepreneurs for assistance and mentoring in scaling up their businesses from committed local business leaders. In summer 2012, Strive received an invitation to repeat its model in Miami, Florida, along with the Endeavor board was meeting to debate the value of such a move. At issue were branding, financing as well as the relevance of Miami, in addition to issues of organizational mission, and focal point.

The invitation had come in the middle of a major expansion effort by Endeavor into new emerging markets and threatened to interrupt those attempts and tax a brand new hybrid funding model which Endeavor was implementing. Founder Linda Rottenberg with the support of her board must decide the implications of maybe opening in Miami on assignment and Endeavor's resources? Could Rottenberg justify to foreign affiliates a decision to invest in a first-world city?
