Mel Bergstein and Chris Moffitt, founded in 1994 a consulting company with investment from Safeguard Scientifics and foundation associates. In April 1996, only after fiscal year-end, the two biggest customers got from jobs representing 50% of the sales of the preceding quarter.
A couple of weeks before, management had hired 28 new workers to begin the following September, had put together a $50 million sales outlook for the year, and had sworn workers yearend bonuses. Direction also expected the business would go public within the next 12 months. Bergstein wonders whether there's a future for Diamond.
