The reason startups nowadays are a leading source of innovation is because they incorporate emerging technologies in order to invent products and reinvent business models. Corporations that adopt an open innovation strategy increasingly appear to startups as a source of external invention. Corporate accelerators offer a potent method of nurturing the innovations from entrepreneurial ventures. However, the huge differences between corporations and startups make collaboration as a challenge. Corporate accelerators should be designed efficiently in order to create gain innovation for the business and to add value for startups.

Based on the information obtained during interviews with managers and players of corporate accelerators (n=40), the supervisors usually get a framework and strategies for designing corporate accelerators. In order to leverage the startups' innovation and to make the corporate accelerators as an effective part of the overall innovation strategy of a company, the managers have to carefully and systematically consider the layout dimensions of procedure, proposal, people, and place.
