Acoplasticos was established in 1961 as a lobbying group for major Colombian plastics manufacturing companies. In the early 1980s, the organization changed its focus on improving the performance of Colombian plastics and rubber cluster, which also includes certain petrochemicals, synthetic fibers, paints and inks industry. Over time, the organization expanded to include a cluster of technological modernization, training, fair production, joint procurement, as well as the collection and dissemination of information.
