However, the business impact of sustainability merit greater scrutiny and control of a different kind than the "green" focused attention that is most common. Sustainability will change the competitive landscape and change the opportunities and threats facing the company? If so, how? As it bothers managers and other stakeholders on the impact of sustainability efforts on the corporate bottom line? What, if anything, are companies doing now to earn a sustainability-driven changes? And what strategies they pursue to position themselves competitively for the future? To begin to answer these questions, MIT Sloan Management Review and a member Boston Consulting Group, conducted in-depth interviews with more than 50 global thought leaders, followed by Business sustainability survey of more than 1500 world leaders and managers about their perspectives on the intersection of sustainability and business strategy, including an assessment as their own companies operating on the stability threats or opportunities right now. The study identifies three main barriers to decisive corporate action: a lack of understanding of what sustainability means and enterprise, difficulty modeling the business and any failure to perform, even after the plan was developed. The study also shows that while novice practitioners think sustainability is mainly the environment and regulatory environment, any benefits resulting primarily from the increased brand or image, practitioners with more knowledge tend to address economic, social and even personal impact resistance changes relating to the business landscape.
