A school sponsorship program developed the American Chamber of Commerce of Nicaragua (AmCham). Its objective was to encourage its members, mainly private companies, to help enhance national education through the support of educational institutions that are destitute. The cooperation was not involuntary, determined by the initiative of individuals and the time and resources accessible within each participating company.
As the program progressed, the committee confronted the choice of transforming itself into a nongovernmental association and becoming independent from AmCham. This way, the support of the educational facilities would grow through the increasing of funds that are international, while facilitating patrons' attempts at the exact same time.
