Tracy Chan, managing director of the Pupil Learning and Writing Services (SLWS) at St. Charles University in Calgary Alberta was faced with a challenging situation. Her hottest worker Michael Hinske, had just emailed her a record of faculty members on the SLWS grad writing initiatives he had contacted to educate.

Chan immediately discovered that the faculty names were contacts that had already been pioneered. There clearly was no indication that Hinske had made any attempt to talk about the plan with other faculties on campus. Due to restructuring the funding request for the position originally made by Chan was resubmitted under Nicole Duncan, the associate manager of the Faculty Educational Development Office (FEDO). The result was the approval of a place that will see the SLSW receive a staff member four days per week and one day per week in the FEDO.

Duncan desired to get a direct part in the recruiting since she was to be responsible for the managing of the budget for the initiative. She phoned Chan to inform her that it ought to be included in the stack if possible candidates and that a resume from Michael Hinske was sent immediately to her. Following the interview process Duncan said that the best candidate for the place was Hinske.
